Case study
REEM · Spanish Multiple Sclerosis Network
From doing everything by email to one shared platform.
REEM is Spain's multiple sclerosis research network: fifteen groups spread across hospitals and institutes nationwide. They coordinated over email — every event, every collaboration, even asking for someone's address. I built the private platform that cuts that email and brings events, collaborations, and contacts into one place.
The problem
Everything went through email.
REEM brings together Spain's leading multiple sclerosis research groups: hospitals, universities, and institutes in Barcelona, Madrid, Málaga, Bilbao, Valencia, and beyond. Coordinating a network like that is hard, and all of it ran on email.
Announcing an event, proposing a collaboration, or simply asking for another researcher's address meant writing to the whole network. The result: overflowing inboxes, announcements that didn't reach everyone, and important information lost inside the threads.
The solution
A private platform that cuts the email.
I built a closed workspace, accessible only with an @reem.es account, where coordination no longer depends on email. Everything that used to be a message now has its own place.
- Events on a shared calendar with alerts, instead of an email to the whole network for every announcement.
- Collaboration board: a group posts what it's looking for and others reply there, instead of email chains.
- A directory of members and groups: you find who to contact without emailing around for someone's address.
- Network Catalogue, shared documents, and notifications — all in one place, by role.
The catalogue
And, along the way, what the network has — searchable.
Beyond coordination, the platform gathers what each group can offer: collaborations, lab materials and techniques, and patient cohorts. Each record gets an automatic code and is accent-insensitive searchable, filtered by group or region. So finding who can run a technique stops being one more email to the whole network.
The outcome
Less email, everything in one place.
- Events, collaborations, and contacts no longer live in the inbox.
- Information isn't lost in threads: it stays on the platform, always available to whoever needs it.
- The network runs its day to day with far fewer emails and far less noise.
